 orthodoxy

I often wonder if I draw to tight or too loose a line around what is core beliefs and what is negotable. Let me know? What's accepatble what's not.Only within Christian faith, I have eliminated all other belief systems.
Outside the faith or not?

 prayer

I'm reading Philip Yancey's book "Prayer: Does it Make a Difference." I'm sure that my current prayer struggle is not unique. I suppose that when God is silent there's a good reason. I have developed a longing to pray. Funny how that is God is silent when I need Him most and I pray more. This no job thing is wearing me down. Coming on the heels of a business failure (one I'm sure God lead me into) it's going on 9 months now. I could have had a baby in this time! I had a baby alright, a 10 pound bouncing baby boy named "Despair."

 Song I Like

I always liked this song. Although the writer seems to have taken a different path since writing this. I still like it.

You said you'd come and share all my sorrows,
You said you'd be there for all my tomorrows,
I came so close to sending you away
But just like you promised you came there to stay.
I just had to pray.

Chorus
And Jesus said come to the water, stand by my side.
I know you are thirsty,You won't be denied.
I felt every tear drop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died.

Your goodness so great I can't understand.
And dear Lord I know that all this was planned.
I know you're here now and always will be.
Your love loosed my chains and in You I'm free.
But, Jesus, why me?

Chorus
And Jesus said come to the water,stand by my side.
I know you are thirsty,You won't be denied.
I felt every tear drop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died.

Jesus, I give you my heart and my soul.
I know that without God I'd never be whole.
Savior, you opened all the right doors,
And I thank you and praise you from earth's humble shores.
Take me, I'm yours.

Chorus
And Jesus said come to the water,stand by my side.
I know you are thirsty,You won't be denied.
I felt every tear drop when in darkness you cried,
And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died.

 going home is sweet

Immanuel's Land
RUTHERFORD

The sands of time are sinking,
The dawn of heaven breaks;
The summer morn I've sighed for,
The fair, sweet morn awakes.
Dark, dark hath been the midnight,
But day-spring is at hand,
And glory, glory dwelleth In Immanuel's land.

O Christ, He is the fountain,
The deep, sweet well of love!
The streams on earth I've tasted
More deep I'll drink above;
There, to an ocean fullness
His mercy doth expand,
And glory, glory dwelleth In Immanuel's land.

With mercy and with judgment
My web of time He wove,
And aye the dews of sorrow
Were lustered with His love.
I'll bless the hand that guided,
I'll bless the heart that planned,
When throned where glory dwelleth In Immanuel's land.

O I am my Beloved's,
And my Beloved's mine!
He brings a poor, vile sinner
Into His house of wine;
I stand upon His merit,
I know no other stand,
Not e'en where glory dwelleth In Immanuel's land.

The bride eyes not her garment,
But her dear bridegroom's face;
I will not gaze at glory,
But on my King of grace:
Not at the crown He giveth,
But on His pierced hand:
The Lamb is all the glory Of Immanuel's land.

Lam 3:52 "I was trapped like a bird by enemies who had no cause to hate me.
Lam 3:53 They threw me alive into a pit and closed the opening with a stone.
Lam 3:54 Water began to close over me, and I thought death was near.
Lam 3:55 "From the bottom of the pit, O LORD, I cried out to you,
